چکیده

In this work, two extensiosn of our previous work are proposed for the simulation of full-Mach-range cavitating flow with sharp interface model. These extensions are: a new interface-interaction solver, which includes a new HLLC Riemann solver suitable for both strong and weak interface interaction with general EOS, and a simple phase-change model which assumes that the phase change is in thermal non-equilibrium, and is much slower than the interaction described by the Riemann problem. Several numerical examples in one dimension are studied; the results suggest that the present method exhibits good robustness and accuracy.

A preconditioned solver for sharp resolution of multiphase flows at all Mach numbers

A preconditioned five-equation two-phase model coupled with an interface sharpening technique is introduced for simulation of a wide range of multiphase flows with both high and low Mach regimes. Harten-Lax-van Leer-Contact (HLLC) Riemann solver is implemented for solving the discretized equations while tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing (THINC) interface sharpening method is applied ...

Direct Calculations of Cavitating Flows by the Space-Time CE/SE Method

This paper reports oneand two-dimensional simulations of cavitating flows by the Space-Time Conservation Element and Solution Element (CE/SE) method. A continuum cavitation model based on specifying the speed of sound of two-phase flows is employed. The CE/SE method is a viable CFD method for flows at wide range of Mach numbers. The method is explicit and is suitable for time accurate simulatio...

Simulation of Premixed Combustion Flow around Circular Cylinder using Hybrid Random Vortex

This research describes the unsteady two-dimensional reacting flows around a circular cylinder. The numerical solution combines the random vortex method for incompressible two-dimensional viscous fluid flow with a Simple Line Interface Calculation (SLIC) algorithm for the propagation of flame interface. To simplify the governing equations, two fundamental assumptions namely Low Mach Number and ...

Liquid and liquid-gas flows at all speeds : Reference solutions and numerical schemes

All speed flows and in particular low Mach number flow algorithms are addressed for the numerical approximation of the Kapila et al. [19] multiphase flow model. This model is valid for fluid mixtures evolving in mechanical equilibrium but out of temperature equilibrium and is efficient for material interfaces computation separating miscible and non-miscible fluids. In this context, the interfac...

Physical Modelling of Self-Aeration in a Cavitating Sudden PIPE Expansion Flow

Sudden pipe expansions have been known as efficient hydraulic energy dissipaters for a long time. The complex phenomenon of flow separation and velocity discontinuity at the interface of incoming jet and the recirculation flow, results in intensive shear and tensile rupture of the fluid and the associated destructive phenomenon of cavitation. This paper focuses on aeration in sudden pipe expans...
